Schools

The North Bend Central school district has been called the crown jewel of North Bend, churning out productive members of society class after class. NBC averages about 48 students per class in high school, and about 43 students per class in the elementary school.

Students attend classes in two buildings, with grades Pre-K through 5 in the elementary building and grades 6-12 in the high school building. Grades 6-8 are part of the NBC middle school in a section of the high school building with their own entrance and locker room.

In 2018, NBC was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education for overall academic excellence. Read more about this honor from the North Bend Eagle.

In 2018 North Bend Central students earned the 11th highest average ACT score out of all 240 Nebraska high schools.

Other 2018-2019 highlights include: the beginning of a 1:1 laptop initiative giving every district student a computer, elementary office updated, new playground at the elementary school opened, a new greenhouse at the high school constructed and opened.

After-School Program

In 2016, North Bend Central began an after-school program at the elementary school. The program, run by a teacher with para-educators and high school students assisting, gives students time to work on homework, partake in an activity and provides a snack.

Some activities untaken by the program include writing and filming a movie, conducting science experiments, learning about computer programming, and engineering a structure using toothpicks and gum drops.

The after-school program runs until 5 p.m. daily with a small fee for students attending.

The elementary school also offers an after-school Math Academy for kindergartners through second graders twice a week.
